Did I hear somebody say yacht?! What I love most about the summer is sun, water, boats, and dope people of course! I never thought, however, that I would make it on a yacht this summer because for some reason the word "yacht" screams Lavish but not Thrifty. I know you probably feel the same way, but keep reading I'll tell you how I sailed the night away on a yacht for the low low.
When I moved to Charlotte, NC one of my goals was to join a couple of organizations of interest to me so that I could get out into to community and mingle with the people. One of the groups I joined was the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), for obvious reasons right?! Well anyway it was $200 to join the group. I know that sounds like too much, right...even if your job reimburses you for it?
Major Key Alert: Get involved! I know certain organizations may cost an arm and a leg to get into, but always check with your job to determine what they are willing to reimburse you for. You never know what you may be missing out on by not being involved with different organizations of interest to you.
Anyway...one of the events that NABA put on this past weekend was a 24k yacht party. When I heard about the event my eyes lit up because I'm a lover of all things lavish! I love gold and shiny things (not that I own any real jewelry...yet), but let's be honest when you hear 24k yacht party the only thing that comes to mind is expensive fun. Welp bagseekers, you'll be glad to hear that I kept my money in my pocket. I only spent $28 to get on the yacht and my food and drinks were included! Lavish and Thrifty or nah?!
Major Key Alert: Not interested in joining an organization at the moment? No worries, you just may be in luck because a lot of organizations don't always exclude the general public from attending their events. For just a few extra dollars , you can be living lavish and Thrifty too.
Girl I Still Think You Lying!
So you need to see the receipt or what?!? The reason why an organization can afford to put on lavish events and charge such a low fee for their members/non members to get in is because they have sponsors. I don't know about you, but its so worth it to me to pay a membership fee to be a part of an organization I'm interested in with other like minded individuals, and partake in events that will allow you to live your best life for the low!
