Whoa...It’s Friday the 13th and I Might Just Be Superstitious
Updated: Jul 7, 2018
Today I woke up and got ready for work just like any other day. Everything was going perfect. I prepared my lunch last night and I packed fruit and a protein bar for breakfast. I wanted to be to work at 8:30am this morning, so I left home at 7:45am. I got in the car turned on my Jesus music and paid no attention to the fact that it was even Friday the 13th, because I never cared and I don’t consider myself to be superstitious. So I’m driving rocking out to my music and then boom. It happened. I ran over something sharp in the middle of a four lane highway. I just knew I was going to get hit as I saw all the cars approaching me so fast in my rearview mirror. Then my car started malfunctioning and all my sensors were going off. I thought it was over for me! (That might be a little dramatic…but you get the point). I put on my right signal light as I felt my tire was going flat on the right, and I politely pulled over to the right shoulder.
Stay with me y’all I’m going somewhere with this story. I’m talking about Friday the 13th but I’m also talking about Faith, Favor and Finances!

Faith
So I get over to the right shoulder of the highway and I’m thinking to myself who should I call first. Then I’m like oh duh…God is the only one who can get me out this time! Before I could even pick up the phone I looked in my rearview mirror and there was a truck pulling up right behind me. I’m thinking to myself dang God… that was fast! Just like that an Angel was walking up to my car and asked me if I had a spare tire and a wheel lock. I said of course I do. He immediately got to work. I looked up and thanked God then I was like wait…I don’t have any cash to give this man. I never carry cash, so I started scrambling through my big ole purse and there was $30.
Favor
Not even 10 minutes later the Angel God sent to put on my spare tire came to my passenger side window and said “you’re all set but you’re going to need to get a tire as soon as possible today.” I thanked him and asked him what his name was. He said Dan. I said Dan you’re the Man and I handed him the $30. He said have a good day ma’am and got in his truck and drove off!
I said all that to say this…you can’t beat God’s favor. I randomly got cash back a couple days ago while I was at the store, because God knew that Friday the 13th was going to happen. I went to get a tire today that cost me $50 including labor. So all together I spent $80 today just to get my tire straight. I’ll take that because God spared my life!
Get Prepared – Stay Ready
When I say stay ready so that you don’t have to get ready, that is exactly what I mean. For some people $80 would have been a stretch even with today being a pay day. Things are going to happen. Not just because today is Friday the 13th but because it’s life. It’s to be expected. Allow for some wiggle room in your budget to handle these types of situations. Don’t be superstitious. Be smart. Get PREPARED.
